Haven’t been doing much lately miniature-wise, but I could feel the want growing again. A friend of mine invited me to play in a Deadzone league and after reading the rules and watching some demo videos, my interest returned full bore. Deadzone is a skirmish game by Mantic that is played on a 2′ x 2′ board. It features some really interesting rules and looks to be deeply tactical, which I like. The group I am playing with bought into the kickstarter and my friend supplied me with the Plague faction models. The Plague are people/animals that have come into contact with alien artifact(s) and it has mutated them into zombie-like creatures, only fast and violent (think 28 days later or resident evil). The people that make initial contact are turned into large creatures, called Stage 1. The people they infect are a bit smaller but still very fast and strong and they are Stage 2. The people they infect are more human sized and still retain intelligence and are Stage 3. Stage 3 Plague can use guns and are less feral, for lack of a better description.
Anyway, I was glad to get back into painting on a small group of models. The base colors I used are Warpaints Dragon Red and Skeleton Bone. I used some Valejo weathering powder on these models, which is my first foray into the pigments. It is a pretty straight forward process and there are a lot of videos on youtube that offer great tutorials.

For my next project, I am going to be revisiting my Dropzone Commander models and finishing them. Thanks for stopping by!
